A Song That Cuts in The Middle...
Oct. 14th, 2023 07:10 pm...or I Love DJ Sets But I Wish They Released Full Versions Of Certain Tracks

If you listen to trance music, you probably know the pain when a DJ makes a set and each song in it is about a minute long, and there's this killer remix of this overdone song (I think even people who don't listen to trance will have heard at least one version of Rapture), and I'm talking the best version since the original, and it stops in the middle and another song begins, and unless you listen to both this part and the next, you're left with only a piece that stops just at the good part. Which means that if I want to put this in any playlist, both parts need to be in the right order and I can never use shuffle.
Okay, so on his 2021 A State of Trance set, Armin van Buuren made a really good mix of Rapture (among other things - it's a really good set! Here's a link to Spotify and Youtube), but it ends just as it reaches this really good spot and it immediately switches to the next track, which picks up where the original has left. Together, they make one good track, but they're split. You can check it out yourself.
Since treating two separate tracks as a single song is often quite inconvenient, most people seem to only listening to the second part - Pull Me Closer. Look at this screenshot from Spotify: while Rapture has been streamed 770 thousand times, Pull Me Closer reached over 2,6 million! It is the second most listened to track on the set!

In any case, maybe all that was for the best. I was looking for some music to listen to while I do stuff online and the whole set has been really good!
